Incoming international passenger items and mail

New Zealand has very strict biosecurity procedures to prevent the introduction of unwanted pests and diseases.  Before entering New Zealand a customer declaration card is completed and if the items you are bringing into the country are deemed to pose a threat by the Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI) then there may be a requirement for them to be treated.

QTC undertakes treatment as directed by MPI, this takes approximately 7 days. When you are ready to pick up:

  • We recommend you contact us before collection to ensure the treatment process for your item has been completed.
  • Bring the original MPI documentation, no copies will be accepted. Your item can not be released without this document.
  • Pick up your item from the QTC site in Mangere, Auckland or it may be couriered to you by request at your cost.
  • We accept direct debit, Eftpos or cash for payment of treatment services.

QTC services

Import and export fumigations and inspections

QTC’s site at Mangere is approved by Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI) as a biosecurity transitional facility and are able to undertake quarantine fumigation treatments.  We undertake the full range of fumigation treatments of sea and air imported and exported items and products whether they are loose, in crates, boxes, palletised or shipping containers.  Treatment of items is done by either gas, chemical, heat or other quarantine processes.  Find out more about the various options QTC offer on our treatments page.

Fumigation treatments can be undertaken at QTC’s site or selected fumigations are available at your site by arrangement. QTC provides all relevant treatment certificates required by MPI to receive a bio security release.  QTC's treatment certificates for export products are accepted for issuing phytosanitary certificates to comply with importing countries phytosanitary requirements (ICPR).  QTC can not issue a phytosanitary certificate.

QTC also provides a container terminal for imported goods that require MPI Inspection. Our Approved Persons are on hand to supervise the devaning, inspection and if required treatment of your cargo. All goods can be handled here, everything from grapes to watermelon, wood to stored products.

Mobile fumigation treatment - greater Auckland area

If you would like the convenience of having fumigations undertaken at your site, QTC offers mobile fumigation service to the Auckland region.  Providing a high quality service that helps meet your deadlines is our Technicians priority.

ISPM15 requirements - treatment of wooden products and packaging

ISPM15 is an international phytosanitary measure that governs the treatment of wooden products and packaging used to ship products between countries e.g. wooden pallets and crates.   Its main purpose is to prevent the international transport and spread of disease and insects.

Under this standard we off two treatment options, fumigation with methyl bromide or heat treatment.
